RORY MACNISH
Rory's lifelong love of photography & film began when he was young, taking
over the photography on family vacations. It evolved into
film and television in his high school years as he became
responsible for taping sporting events, performances and educational
pieces.
He attended New York Institute of Technology and received
a Bachelor of Arts degree in film and television. While in
college Rory had unlimited use of the schools AV darkroom
and as he learned about movie making he also applied those
similar skills to still photography as well. Spending many
nights (all nighters) in the darkroom he perfected his technical
skills in the darkroom as well as in the field.
After graduating in 1985, his first job in television was
at a UHF broadcast station called WLIG-TV on Long Island and
continued shooting still photos as a hobby.
The photo bug bit hard and Rory wanted to be more independent
and from 1986 to 1995, Rory opened and ran his own business,
a Photography studio and one-hour photo lab with a fully equipped
custom picture framing studio. During this time, he produced
three posters featuring Long Island Wines, as well as a poster
of the Bug Light Lighthouse, a restored lighthouse on the
eastern end of Long Island. He began to show his work via
the East End Photographer's Group.
His work turns up in a number of different restaurants, Real
Estate offices, magazines and brochures and homes & Business
through out the New York area.
Rory is married with 4 children and currently lives in
Mattituck, Long Island, New York.
